This alley was laid out as Maple Alley in the Parkview plan of lots in 1899.[1]
Lincoln Place was annexed by the City of Pittsburgh in 1929.[2] Pittsburgh already had a Maple Terrace, so the next year Maple Alley was renamed V Way.[3] The names M Way through Z Way assigned in 1930 continued a series of consecutively lettered alleys in the Calhoun Park plan of 1917, which had B Way (later Oakleaf Way) through L Way.[4]
