Neighborhood | Lincoln Place |
Origin of name | Continuation of a series of lettered ways begun in the Calhoun Park plan |
This alley was laid out in the Brierley plan of lots in 1902, though that plan did not give it a name. It ran along the northeastern edge of the plan from Oakwood Avenue (today Plaport Street) to Main Street (today Interboro Avenue north of West Run Road, or Main Street in Munhall).[1]
Lincoln Place was annexed by the City of Pittsburgh in 1929, after which this alley formed part of the city line.[2] The next year, a city ordinance named all of the unnamed alleys in the annexed district; this alley became Q Way.[3] The names M Way through Z Way assigned in 1930 continued a series of consecutively lettered alleys in the Calhoun Park plan of 1917, which had B Way (later Oakleaf Way) through L Way.[4]
Q Way does not exist today.
