Neighborhood Hazelwood
Origin of name William Ewart Gladstone

Gladstone Street was laid out in 1886 in a plan of lots by John D. Scully and Charles E. Speer.[1] It is named for William Ewart Gladstone (1809–1898), Prime Minister of the United Kingdom several times between 1874 and 1894, who proposed home rule for Ireland in 1886. Nearby Home Rule Street, laid out in the same plan, is named for the Irish Home Rule movement, and Parnell Street is named for the leader of the movement.
