Origin of name Gottfried Daniel Simen

Simen Avenue is named for Gottfried Daniel Simen, a wealthy shoe salesman and real estate developer in Allegheny City.[1]

Simonton Street in Point Breeze North was originally named Simen Street, after the same man. He also named McPherson Boulevard and Thomas Boulevard.[2] Corona Street is named for the best-selling style of shoe in his store.[1]
