Notes:Christmas Street

From Pittsburgh Streets

1982-01-22: Source:Deasy: "Mystery still shrouds the origin of many local street names, said Regis Kircher of the city Planning Department. Anyone who subdivided property into lots for houses was expected to provide an access street and enjoyed the privilege of proposing a name for the street. Most anything was accepted by the city, said Kircher, as long as the name wasn't obscene or controversial. ¶ Developers often chose their daughter's names, according to Kircher. Whims inspired other names, such as Christmas Street in Greenfield, named by an early Englishman named Collins."
