Notes:Canton Avenue

From Pittsburgh Streets

Source:Iacone-loney-marini-thomas, p. 15: "Canton Street, connecting Coast with Hampshire, was originally called First Avenue. As it happens, this short street ranks as Pittsburgh's steepest, with a grade of 37 percent. Still paved in the Belgian block that lies beneath most area streets since resurfacing with asphalt began in the 1970s, Canton seems a lightly traveled road, and for good reason: It is a one-way street, heading uphill, and is best avoided under inclement conditions."
