Haslett Avenue (until 1930) | |

This avenue was laid out as Haslett Avenue in the 1896 Calhoun Park plan of lots by Mary Lee Tower and Edwin C. Haslett.[1] The same or a very similar plan was recorded again in 1898 as the Lincoln Place plan of lots, this time bearing only Haslett's name.[2]
Lincoln Place was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1929.[3] The following year, Haslett Avenue was renamed Muldowney Avenue to avoid confusion with Hazlett Street in Northview Heights.[4] It may have been named for Michael Joseph Muldowney (1889–1947), a member of Pittsburgh City Council at the time;[5] he went on to represent Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives from 1933 to 1935.
