Origin of name | J. Noll |
McBride Street (until 1930) |
This street was laid out as McBride Street in 1901.[1]
Lincoln Place was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1929.[2] There were two McBride Streets in the new district, so this one, the southern one, was renamed Nollhill Street by a city ordinance the following year. (The northern one was renamed McBride Avenue.)[3] The name Nollhill likely refers to J. Noll, who owned two acres of land between the end of this street and Mifflin Road.[4]
