Clifton Avenue (until 1930)
Portion | Northeast of Scorer Street |
Greenwood Avenue (until 1930)
Portion | Southwest of Scorer Street |
The part of Lougean Avenue northeast of modern Scorer Street was laid out as Clifton Avenue in 1902 in the Brierley plan of lots.[1]
The part southwest of Scorer Street was laid out as Greenwood Avenue in 1917 in the Calhoun Park plan.[2]
Lincoln Place was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1929.[3] The following year, many streets were renamed to fix duplicates. Since Pittsburgh already had a Clifton Boulevard in Carrick and a Greenwood Street in Morningside and Stanton Heights, Clifton Avenue and Greenwood Avenue were combined and renamed Lougean Avenue.[4]
