Linden Avenue appears in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[1] The name was officially established as Linden Street by a city ordinance in 1881.[2] It was changed back to Linden Avenue by another ordinance in 1915, which actually divided it into two avenues, North Linden Avenue and South Linden Avenue, on either side of Penn Avenue.[3]
