Kish Way

Kish Way
Neighborhood Greenfield
Origin of name First syllable of Kishon, name of the plan of lots
Kish Alley (1911–1914)

This alley was laid out in 1898 as part of the Kishon plan of lots no. 2, though that plan did not give it a name.[1] It remained unnamed until a city ordinance in 1911 named it Kish Alley.[2] The same ordinance named a parallel alley On Alley;[2] the two names are the two syllables of Kishon, the name of the plan of lots. The plan was probably named for the Kishon River in Israel, mentioned in the Bible.

Kish Alley became Kish Way in 1914 when another ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[3]
