Zaruba Way

From Pittsburgh Streets
Zaruba Way
Neighborhood Arlington Heights
Fate Vacated in 1941
Hedge Alley (until 1923)
Origin of name Perhaps a hedge along a property line

This former alley was laid out as Hedge Alley in Rebecca E. Bean's Wabash plan of lots in 1902. It was in line with Fort Street in that plan.[1] Hedge Alley ran along the edge of the plan and may have been named for a hedge on the property line.

After St. Clair Borough was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1923,[2] Fort Street was made part of Zaruba Street, and Hedge Alley, since it was in the same line, was renamed Zaruba Way.[3]

Zaruba Way was vacated in 1941.[4]
