Wayne Street
Neighborhoods East Liberty, Garfield, Highland Park
Fate Vacated in 1888

Wayne Street formerly ran from Margaretta Street north into what is now Highland Park, one block west of Negley Avenue.

The 1870 annual report of the Survey Committee of Pittsburgh City Councils mentioned this street: "Wayne street, 80 feet from Margaretta street to Broadway [now Bryant Street], levels and stones set."[1] It was listed in an 1881 city ordinance establishing the names of all streets in Pittsburgh: "Wayne street, from Margaretta street to Water Works property, Nineteenth ward."[2] It appears in the 1882 Hopkins atlas.[3]

Wayne Street was vacated by a city ordinance in 1888.[4]

Modern Samantha Way follows the line of old Wayne Street.
