Walnut Street (until 1868) |
The original name of 13th Street was Walnut Street. It first appears in William Darby's 1815 map of Pittsburgh.[1]
In 1868, Pittsburgh's modern sequence of numbered streets was created by renaming all the streets perpendicular to the Allegheny River; Walnut Street became 13th Street.[2][3][4]
Today Walnut Street is a different street, one in Shadyside.
