Walter L. McClintock Dead In the Capital
Well-Known Pittsburgher Passes Away After Long Illness. Funeral in This City.

Walter Lowrie McClintock, aged 70, member of an old and prominent Pittsburgh family, died yesterday morning in the Hotel Grafton, Washington, D. C., after a long illness. Mr. McClintock was the second son of Washington and Eliza Thompson McClintock. He was born in old Allegheny. He was a graduate of Phillips Academy, Andover, Mass., and of Yale University, class of 1862, being a classmate of United States Treasurer Franklin MacVeagh.

During the Civil War Mr. McClintock abruptly forsook his university course and, on the first call for volunteers, joined the City Guards, the crack Pittsburgh company. Following the war he took a course in the Columbia Law School, New York. He later entered on a business career in this city as a member of the firm of Oliver McClintock & Co. He was active in the organization of the local Y. M. C. A. in 1866, and was its first treasurer. He was for many years a vestryman and Sunday school superintendent in St. Andrew's Protestant Episcopal Church, and was a member of Post 259, G. A. R.

Mr. McClintock leaves his widow, Mary Garrison McClintock; two sons, A. G. McClintock, of Washington, D. C., a clerk in the United States Senate, and Clarence Oliver McClintock of Augusta, Ga.; three brothers, Oliver McClintock and Frank T. McClintock, of this city, and Thompson McClintock of Haverford, Pa., and two sisters, Mrs. William M. Kennedy, wife of former Mayor Kennedy of Allegheny, and Mrs. John A. Woodman of Riverside, Cal. Funeral services will be held in the home of Oliver McClintock, South Amberson and Ellsworth avenues, tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock.
