Robert Henderson, a well known and highly esteemed citizen, died yesterday morning at his residence, on Henderson street, Allegheny, aged sixty-two years. Deceased was born in Dumfreeshire [sic] county, Scotland, and came to this country in 1837, selecting Allegheny as his place of residence, where he continued to reside until the time of his death. He was for many years extensively engaged in building bridges, having constructed nearly all the bridges on the Connellsville Railroad. Some time ago he purchased a large tract of coal land near Dunbar, Fayette county, and embarked in the business of making coke. This venture, however, proved disastrous, almost resulting in ruining Mr. H. financially. Deceased was a member of the U. P. Church, of Allegheny. He leaves a son and two daughters, one of the latter being the wife of Mr. Samuel Watson, of Allegheny.
