BANKSVILLE ROAD OFFICIALLY OPENS

The new Banksville Rd. a superhighway costing a million dollars, was opened officially today after being closed for a year and three months.

One of the principal thoroughfares serving South Hills communities, the road extends three miles from Saw Mill Run Circle to McFarland Rd., Mt. Lebanon.

The Banksville Rd., once a narrow, twisting highway of asphalt, was reconstructed with an eye to the far future and emphasis on safety for the motorist. It was widened to four lanes and is divided in the middle by a four-foot strip of earth.

Improvements to the highway cost $827,564. But payment of property damages raised the cost of the project to a million dollars.
