Poe Alley is listed in an 1881 city ordinance establishing the names of all streets in the city[1] and appears in the 1890 Hopkins atlas.[2] It became Poe Way in 1914 when another ordinance changed all alleys to ways.[3]
Bob Regan includes "Poe" in a list of streets named for noted historical people;[4] the implied eponym seems to be Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849), American author and poet.
