Maps from the 1830s show the Pittsburgh and Coal Hill Turnpike leading away from Pittsburgh along the line of modern Wylie Avenue, jogging south on what later became Fulton Street (eventually Fullerton Street), and heading further east along modern Centre Avenue.[1][2]

The Pittsburgh and Coal Hill Turnpike had disappeared by 1845.[3]
