Notes:Ewing Street

To do

Source:Edeburn-ewing-plan (1872-06) shows "Ewing Ave." in line with Laurel St., which had a bend. Ewing was roughly northwest–southeast; the northwest terminus was Liberty Ave.

Source:Hopkins-1882 shows Ewing St., but the northwest terminus is an unlabeled street south of and parallel to Liberty. It seems that the course of Liberty had been changed slightly when it was put through Iron City Park. This map does not show the changes made by the 1881 ordinance.

Source:Ordinance-1881-33 (1881-03-04):

  • "Ewing street, from Thirty-third street to Property line, Sixteenth ward." This seems to be the street parallel to Liberty.
  • "Forfar street, from Neville street to Ewing street, formerly First street, Sixteenth ward." This is in the location of the modern Herron Avenue bridge.
  • "Laurel street, from Ewing street to Edmond street, Sixteenth ward." So Laurel Street had been straightened.
  • "Belvidere street, from Laurel street to Property line, formerly Berg street, Sixteenth ward." This is partially the same as Berg Street in Edeburn and Ewing's plan, but that plan has a bend in the street. The 1882 Hopkins atlas shows this as Oak St.

Source:Hopkins-1890-vol-4, plates 1–3, shows that the name of Ewing St. has been transferred to the street parallel to Liberty.
