Edgerton Avenue appears in Source:Park-place-plan, laid out May 1860 and recorded July 17, 1869.

1869-09-27: Municipal Record, Common Council (p. 84): "Surveys. ¶ Mr. CHISLETT presented the report of the Survey Committee, with the following plans: ¶ . . . ¶ Plan of Edgerton avenue. Approved."

1869-09-28: "City Councils" (continued from p. 1), Pittsburgh Gazette, p. 8 (Newspapers.com 86350087): "From the Survey Committee. ¶ Mr, Chislett from the Survey Committee presented plans of Forbes and Murdoch streets, Joncaire street, Edgerton avenue, Jefferson and Alpine streets, and Madison avenue, Webster avenue extension and Mason street extension, all of which were adopted."

1869-10-25: Municipal Record, Select Council (p. 85): "Mr. HAILMAN presented a petition and ordinance for the opening of Edgerton avenue, from the intersection of Forbes street to the city line, in accordance with a plan adopted by the City Engineer. ¶ The petition was accepted, the rules suspended and the ordinance read a third time and passed finally."

1869-11-29: Municipal Record, Common Council (p. 100): "The following business of Select Council was concurred in: ¶ Ordinance to survey and open Edgerton avenue."
