- p. 9: "A major Native American trail, Nemacolin's, crossed the Squirrel Hill ridge. During the Revolutionary War era, it was called Braddock's Road. The trail connected to Four Mile Run (along present-day Saline Street)."
- p. 11: "Part of Nemacolin's Trail (later called Braddock's Road and now Beechwood Boulevard) ran through James Fleming's property. His second house, part of which still stood in 1915, was near Pocusset Street and Beechwood Boulevard. Three hundred yards away from there was another Native American trail that led from Braddock's Road to East Liberty."
