Meyran Avenue
Neighborhood Central Oakland
Origin of name Charles Meyran

Meyran Avenue is named for Charles Meyran, who once owned the land through which it runs and who laid out the street and the surrounding plan of lots in 1871.[1][2][3][4]

Meyran was born in Germany in 1833. He was involved in many businesses in Pittsburgh: he was a jeweler, a part owner of several railroad companies, the founder of the Germania Savings Bank, and an organizer of the Canonsburg Iron and Steel Company and the Manufacturers Natural Gas Company.[1]
