Manion Alley (until 1914) |
This alley was laid out in 1868 in a plan of lots for A. W. Ewing and his wife, though that plan did not give it a name.[1] It was named Manion Alley (or Mannion Alley) by 1890, when a petition and ordinances were presented in Common Council for the grading, paving, and location of the alley.[2][3] The spelling Manion was officially established by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1910.[4] It became Manion Way in 1914, when another ordinance changed all alleys in the city to ways.[5]
