Lothrop Street
Neighborhood West Oakland
Origin of name Sylvanus Lothrop

This street appears in plans of lots from 1871 and 1873, though those plans do not give it a name.[1][2] It was named Lothrop Street by 1874, when a city ordinance established its grade.[3]

It is named for Sylvanus Lothrop, an early Pittsburgh engineer and industrialist.[4][5][6][7][8]
