This alley appears, unlabeled, in maps from the 1850s and 1860s.[1][2] The 1872 Hopkins atlas labels it Foster's Alley.[3] It was renamed Lodi Alley by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881, which listed the former name as "Foster Alley."[4] It became Lodi Way in 1914 when another ordinance changed all alleys in the city to ways.[5]
