This street appears, labeled just "Street," in a plan of lots laid out in 1868 for William and James Murdock.[1] It also appears, unlabeled, in the 1872 and 1876 Hopkins atlases.[2][3]
The name Ivy Street was in use by 1873[4] and was officially established by a Pittsburgh city ordinance in 1881.[5][6]
