From Pittsburgh Streets
Gamma Way
Neighborhood Regent Square
Origin of name The Greek letter gamma
Gamma Alley (until 1914)
Origin of name The Greek letter gamma

This alley was laid out in two plans from 1901 and 1909; the first did not give it a name, but the second called it Gamma Alley.[1][2] The other alleys in the 1909 plan were named Beta Alley (today Billiard Way), Theta Alley (today Thays Way), and Kappa Alley;[2] all four were named for Greek letters.

Gamma Alley became Gamma Way in 1914, when a city ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[3]
