Enoch Street is mentioned in a sheriff's notice in the Daily Pittsburgh Gazette from 1839.[1] It appears, unlabeled, in R. E. McGowin's 1845 map of Pittsburgh;[2] his 1852 map labels it "Enochs Street."[3]
It is named for Thomas Enoch,[4] who laid out a plan of lots here.[5][6] Enoch was also one of the first aldermen of Pittsburgh.[4]
