Neighborhood | Brighton Heights |
Origin of name | H. Davis or H. E. Davis |
Davis Avenue appears in the 1876 Hopkins atlas.[1] It may be named for H. E. Davis, who owned the land on the south side of the road at its western end at that time.[1] On the other hand, the 1862 map of S. N. and F. W. Beers shows, where Davis Avenue would later be built, a driveway leading to the house of H. Davis, which seems to be a different person (a house to the north is labeled H. E. Davis),[2] so this may be the true origin of the name.
