This street appears as Wiley Street in the 1896 Hopkins atlas.[1] This name was too similar to Wylie Avenue on the Hill, so it was renamed Walcott Street in 1906.[2]
Bob Regan includes "Walcott" in a list of streets named for noted historical people, but unfortunately he gives no further details.[3] It is not clear who Regan had in mind.
