This road appears in Allegheny County maps from 1850, 1851, and 1862.[1][2][3] It was called the Middletown Road because it led to the village of Middletown,[1][2][3] today Coraopolis.[4] The name was in use at least as early as 1838.[5]
Part of Middletown Road once served as 16th Street in the borough of Sheraden.[6][7][8] See Faust Street for more about Sheraden's formerly numbered streets.
