This street appears, unlabeled, in the 1872 Hopkins atlas.[1] It was originally named Oak Street.[2] This name conflicted with Oak Alley downtown (later Ogle Way), so it was renamed Bellefonte Street by a city ordinance in 1881.[2][3]
