This street was first laid out as Marlowe Avenue in 1901 in the West Pittsburg Terrace plan.[1]
Chartiers Township was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1921,[2] and the next year a Pittsburgh city ordinance changed Marlowe Avenue to Brett Street.[3]
The portion of Brett Street south of Willoughby Street was laid out in 1950 in the Noble Manor plan,[4] revised in 1951,[5] and officially accepted, opened, and named by an ordinance in 1953.[6]
