This street was laid out as Maine Street in 1893 by the South Side Land Purchasing Association.[1][2]
The borough of Carrick was annexed into the city of Pittsburgh in 1927.[3][4][5][6][7] The name Maine Street sounded identical to Main Street in Bloomfield and Lawrenceville, so in March of that year it was renamed Maytide Street.[8]
