This alley appears, unlabeled, in R. E. McGowin's 1852 map of Pittsburgh.[1] It was named Lemon Alley by a city ordinance in 1865.[2] It became Lemon Way in 1914 when another ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[3]
