The part of this street in Polish Hill appears as Fairmount Street in the 1872 Hopkins atlas, and the part in the Upper Hill was Jefferson Street.[1]
Fairmount Street was changed to Finland Street in 1881 to fix the duplication with Fairmount Street in Friendship and Garfield.[2] Jefferson Street was made part of Finland Street in 1925.[3]
Bob Regan includes "Finland" in a list of streets named for countries.[4]
