This alley was originally named Cherry Alley. After Lawrenceville was annexed by Pittsburgh in 1868, this name conflicted with Cherry Alley downtown (today Cherry Way), so it was changed to Almond Alley.[1] It became Almond Way in 1914 when a city ordinance changed all alleys in Pittsburgh to ways.[2]
