Origin of name | Maybe Chester A. Arthur |
This alley was laid out as Arthur Alley in Minna Rinne's plan of lots in 1887.[1] It may have been named for Chester A. Arthur (1829–1886), 21st president of the United States from 1881 to 1885, who had died the previous year.
The borough of St. Clair, including this alley, was annexed by the city of Pittsburgh in 1923.[2] The name of this was changed to Una Way by a Pittsburgh city ordinance that same year.[3]
