This street was laid out as Ann Street in 1871 in a plan of lots for the heirs of Samuel Garrison.[1]
In 1881, a Pittsburgh city ordinance renamed many streets to fix duplicates. There were four Ann Streets in the city, so this street in Morningside was renamed Antietam Street.[2] It is named for the Battle of Antietam, fought in 1862 during the American Civil War.[3][4][5]
