Trinity Street
Neighborhood Stanton Heights
Origin of name A word that means 'three,' referring to its original name, Third Street
Third Street (until 1881)
Origin of name Sequential numbering in a plan of lots

This street was laid out as Third Street in 1874 in a plan of lots for the Sharpsburg and Etna Savings Bank.[1]

In 1881 a Pittsburgh city ordinance renamed many streets to fix duplicates. There was another Third Street downtown (today the northern half of Commonwealth Place), so this street was renamed Trinity Street,[2] which preserves the notion of "three."
